Rapoport began covering the Mississippi State Bulldogs for the Jackson Clarion-Ledger in 2004. In 2006, he switched to The Birmingham News to cover the Alabama Crimson Tide.
According to Pardon My Take (“PMT”), he applied for a job with the Boston Herald on the condition that he would cover Bill Belichick in the same way that he covered Nick Saban.
Starting in 2009, he worked as a Patriots beat reporter for the Boston Herald for three seasons after getting the job.
In 2012, Rapoport joined the NFL Network. In October 2020, the NFL Network suspended him for two weeks for posting a social media commercial for male grooming items.
