Popular politician and TV host Jerry Springer known for his raucous TV talk shows has passed away at the age of 79. According to his publicists, Springer passed away peacefully on Thursday at his Chicago residence.
In a statement, Jene Galvin, a close friend of Springer and a spokesperson for the family, referred to him as “irreplaceable.” Galvin also revealed that Springer was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer a few months prior to his death.
Galvin said:
Born on February 13, 1944, Springer served as the 56th Mayor of Cincinnati from 1977 to 1978.
However, he was best known for hosting the tabloid talk show Jerry Springer between September 30, 1991, and July 26, 2018, and debuting the Jerry Springer Podcast in 2015.
From 2007 to 2008, Springer hosted America’s Got Talent, and from September 2019 until 2022, Springer hosted the courtroom show Judge Jerry.
