Shirley Eaton Biography

Shirley Eaton (Full name: Shirley Jean Eaton) is a former actress, former model, and author from England. She gained popularity in the 1964 James Bond film ‘ Goldfinger’ for portraying Bond Girl Jill Masterson. Originally from Middlesex, Eaton began her career on stage and on television as a singing actor.

She made her big-screen debut in’ Personal Affair’ in 1953 in an uncredited role. She is considered one of Hollywood’s most prominent sex symbols of all time.

Shirley Eaton made her stage debut in 1949 at the age of 12 in’ Set to Partners.’ Soon after, she appeared in the’ Let’s Make an Opera’ by Benjamin Britten! She was cast in her first West End play in 1954, a production of’ Going to Town.’ Her first screen appearance occurred in an episode of’ For the Children’ in 1950. Subsequently, in all six episodes of BBC’s fortnightly comedy series ‘ Parent – Craft ‘ 1951, she portrayed the character Anne Pebble. She played a schoolgirl in her first cinematic appearance but was uncredited.

She landed a contract with British filmmaker Alexander Korda during the early stages of her career and appeared in minor roles in films such as’ Doctor in the House’ 1954 and’ The Love Match’ 1955. Her performance in those two films gained her roles in droll features such as’ Panic in the Parlor’ 1956,’ Three Men in a Boat’ 1956,’ Your Past Is Showing’ 1957 and’ Doctor at Large’ 1957.

Korda passed away in 1956 and Eaton subsequently became a member of the Rank Organization. She was regularly cast as a fetching vamp in drama films like’ The Girl Hunters’ 1963, while simultaneously starring in some of the most scathing British farces of the era. The first film she appeared in was’ Carry On Sergeant’ 1958. She has also appeared in’ Carry On Nurse’ 1959 and’ Carry On Constable’ 1960.

She made three episodes of The Saint, starring Roger Moore, including the pilot. Eaton participated in the British heat of the 1957 Eurovision Song Contest.

Eaton found international fame with her portrayal of Jill Masterson, one of the otherworldly beauties associated with the eponymous antagonist, Auric Goldfinger Gert Fröbe, in the 1964 James Bond film ‘ Goldfinger.’ Despite the fact that her character was killed within the first 16 minutes of the film, it was the manner of death that unquestionably remains the most memorable thing about the film.

James Bond (Sean Connery) discovered that she had died of “skin suffocation” with gold paint covering her from head to toe. Her last cinematic appearance was in the action-adventure ‘ Die Sieben Männer der Sumuru ‘ The Girl from Rio in West Germany in 1969.

In recent years, Eaton has returned as a writer to the public sphere. She published her autobiography, ‘ Golden Girl, ‘ through B.T in 1999. Publishers in Batsford. She also appeared in the short film ‘ Everdream ‘ in 2001.
