Before relocating to California, Peggy was working as a lounge singer in Pensacola, Florida. She was persuaded to return to the studio by Jimmy Lewis, a singer, songwriter, and producer. Jimmy Lewis guided her and they recorded her solo debut album called Help Yourself. The album was released on October 22, 1996. Help Yourself was sold well thus making the Billboard 200 album chart, peaking at #72, #9 on the R&B chart, and #1 on the Top Blues Album Chart.

In 1997, she released Contagious. It featured the hit single “Spousal Abuse, ” which tackled the issue of domestic abuse in relationships. Her third album called Undisputed Queen was released in 1999. Peggy later released Live in Alabama & More in 2000. Live in Alabama & More featured the ballad, “When I’m With You” and the dance track “Sweaty Men”.

In 2003, Peggy released her fifth album Busting Loose. Busting Loose featured the lead single, “If You Wanna Hear Me, Holler, Lick Me Up Some Dollars”. Peggy realized her first gospel album called God Can, And He Will in 2006. In 2009, she released her second album called Back To The Roots.
