She got her start on the weather and traffic wall in her hometown of Miami. Decades later and she still has a passion for this business. While most of her career has been spent on an anchor desk, telling stories is her true passion.
Most impactful trip: Covering the Pope in Cuba in 2012. Favorite interviews: Mark Cuban and Edward Norton. Her second came when, she was one of only two South Florida journalists who reported Pope Benedict XVI’s historic visit for local audiences’ lives from Havana, Cuba.
In October 2003, she joined the morning news team as the station’s first traffic anchor. While keeping an eye on the roads for South Florida drivers, Jen continued to cover news stories as well. She moved on to anchor the Local 10 News at Noon, the Local 10 Morning News on Saturday and Sunday, and later the Local 10 Evening News on Saturday and Sunday she anchored Jason Martinez.
In March 2012, she traveled to Cuba along with Calvin Hughes to cover Pope Benedict XVI’s visit to the communist island. She’s also crisscrossed the country covering the Miami Heat during their trips to the playoffs. Jen Herrera joined NBC in April 2018. Herrera has more than 15 years of journalistic experience in South Florida.
Prior to joining NBC6, she worked at the local ABC affiliate, WPLG, as a news anchor for several of the station’s newscasts during her 11-year tenure.
