Charles and Veronica, Giannis’ Parents, were former athletes in Nigeria. His father played soccer and his mother was a high jumper.
Although Giannis is a multi-millionaire athlete, he came from a humble upbringing. His parents were born and brought up in Nigeria and later immigrated to Greece in search of a better life in 1992. Due to the nature of their immigration being illegal, the Antetokounmpo family did not have any legal documents.
