There were reports about his health that he wasn’t well and died, but they were all baseless. Mr. Mallick just received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 5th Joy Filmfare Awards.
It was an emotional moment for everyone on March 17 when he was handed over the award. It was made even more memorable by the fact that Mr. Mallick’s co-star in 52 films, Tollywood icon Prosenjit Chatterjee, presented the award to the veteran actor.
He recalled his joinery in the cinema and thanked everyone who has helped him achieve this stage including his fans and directors.
“I began my cinema career in 1971 with the renowned Mrinal Sen’s ‘Interview,’ and I later worked with Satyajit Ray in ‘Shakha Proshakha.’
“Those were happy times for me. I must say that I have had the good fortune to appear in films by some renowned directors, and each of these pictures has enhanced my life throughout the years.”
“Even Bumba (Chatterjee), who is bestowing this honor on me, has appeared in 52 films with me. I have a lot of happy recollections.”
“But all of this happened because of the public, who has supported me for years and motivated me to do my best. Finally, I’d like to thank Filmfare for honoring me with the Lifetime Achievement Award,” Ranjit Mallick told ETimes after accepting the award.”
According to the Times of India, the versatile actor will next be seen in PB Chaki’s next rom-com ‘Love Marriage.’ There he will co-star with Ankush and Oindrila Sen.
